The Birth of Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji

Not much is said on the occasion of the birth of Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji in the Suraj Prakash Granth. Thus, presented below are some verses from the "Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth" in praise of the Eighth Nanak:

ਦੋਹਰਾ:

ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਕੋ ਨਿਪੁਨ ਹਰਨ ਜੁਰ ਤੀਨ। 

ਚਰਨ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਬੰਦਨਾ ਜਿਨ ਸਿੱਖਨ ਸੁਖਿ ਕੀਨ ॥੧੯॥

"By getting a glimpse of Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji,

The three different causes of pain and suffering are dispelled.

I pay my obeisance to the beautiful feet of Sri Guru Har Krishan Ji,

Which were the cure for many Sikhs in Delhi and the cure for Sikhs today."

ਕਬਿੱਤ:

ਅਮਲ ਕਮਲ ਜੁਗ ਅਰੁਨ ਲਲਿਤ ਭਲ ਤਾਂਕੇ ਦਲ ਅਵਲੀ ਸੁ ਹੀਰਨ ਕੀ ਜਟੀ ਸੀ। 

ਕਿਧੌਂ ਉਡ ਪਾਂਤ ਹਿਤ ਆਪਚਿਤ ਲੋਕ ਮਾਤ ਤਜੀ ਨਭ ਗਤਿ ਥਿਤ ਐਸੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਠਟੀ ਸੀ। 

ਕਿਧੌਂ ਬਿਸ਼੍ਵਕਰਮਾਂ ਨੈ ਸ਼ੇਖ ਤੇ ਮਨਿਨ ਲੇਯ ਕਾਂਤਿ ਹਿਤ ਖਚੀ ਬਸੈ ਰਮਾ ਸਾਜ ਕੁਟੀ ਸੀ। 

ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਹਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਅਨੂਪ ਬਨੇ ਨਖ ਸ਼ਸ਼ਿ ਸਕਲ ਸੇ ਉਪਮਾ ਨ ਲਟੀ ਸੀ ॥੨੦॥

"Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji, your feet are similar to a soft red flower.

The toes of both your feet have nails which look similar to encrusted jewels.

It is as if the stars have fallen from the sky and assumed their positions as nails on your holy feet.

It is as if Vishwakarma has taken the precious jewel from Sheshnag and fitted the jewels as your nails.

These created nails are like beautiful houses, as your toes are where Laxmi comes and goes as she pleases."

ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ। ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਬਰਤਮਾਂ ਬਨ ਅਘ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ।

ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸਰੂਪ ਦਾਸ ਜਿਸ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ। ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੋ ਮੇਘਦ ਜਿਸ਼ਨ ॥੧੫॥

"The Sāt-Gūrū, Hari Krishan is the embodiment of God.

Like a fire, they remove the darkness.

They are an avatar of the Almighty,

In the same way Krishna is an avatar of Vishnu.

They are the cloud that brings rain to the farm."

ਬਿਸ ਨ ਰਹਤਿ ਬਿਸ਼ਿਯਾਨ ਕੀ ਸਿਮਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ॥੧੦॥

"Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji removes all darkness from our hearts.

Upon Meditating their name, the poisons of the vices are erased."

ਦੇਹਿ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਬਾਲ, ਬਡੇ ਗੁਨਨਿ ਮਹਿ ਅਵਤਰੇ। 

ਤਰੇ ਸੇਵ ਨਰ ਬਾਲ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਸੁਜਸ ਕਰੇ ॥੧੦॥

"Although Sri Guru Harkrishan Ji is bodily a child,

Their virtues haven't been possessed by any avatar before.

All men, all women, anybody that praises you, will all be saved."

ਆਰਬਲਾ ਲਘੁ ਸ਼ਕਤਿ ਬਿਸਾਲ। ਬਾਲ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਰਸਾਲ। 

ਬਾਲ ਸੂਰ ਲਘੁ ਪਿਖਿ ਜਿਮ ਜਾਲ। ਮੋਹ ਤਿਮਰ ਤਿਮ ਕਰਤਿ ਉਜਾਲ ॥੧੧॥

"Their age may be small but they hold great power,

Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji is the child Guru.

Although the sun appears small in the sky,

It is the remover of all darkness.

In the same way, the child Guru, Hari Krishan removes the darkness of Attachment."

ਦੋਹਰਾ:

ਅਸ਼ਟਮ ਤਨ ਧਰਿ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ, ਤਖਤ ਬਿਰਾਜੇ ਦੀਹ।

ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਲਪ ਸਰੀਰ ਹੈ, ਰਿਦਾ ਗੂਢ, ਬਚ ਲੀਹ ॥੧॥

"Sri Hari Krishan Ji inhabit the eighth form and sit on the Gurus throne.

They have a small physique due to their young age,

But their heart and mind are stablished.

They stay true to their Ambrosial-words."

ਸ੍ਵੈਯਾ: 

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੂਰਤ ਮਾਧੁਰੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ, ਪੁਰਤਿ ਕਾਮਨਾ ਸਿਖ੍ਯਨ ਕੀ।

ਸ਼ਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਧਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੂਰਬ, ਆਠਮ ਦੇਹ ਸੁ ਨੌਤਨ ਕੀ।

ਜਯੋਂ ਮਹਿਪਾਲਕ ਪੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕੋ ਤਜਿ, ਪੈ ਪਹਿਰੈ ਹਿਤ ਭਾਂਤਨ ਕੀ।

ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਤਥਾ ਦੁਤਿ ਪਾਵਤਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਮਨ ਕੀ ॥੨॥

"They have a graceful visage and a sweet image,

They fulfill the Sikhs' desires.

The Lord has inhabited a peaceful figure and itemized an eighth form,

In the same manner as a king would switch from one vesture to another.

The congregation express their true love for the Guru."

ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਦਿ ਜਯੋਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਚਾ ਮਨ, ਤਯੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗ੍ਯਾਨ ਮਹਾਂ ਰਸ ਹੋਵਾ।

ਸਿਖ ਸੰਗਤ ਕੇ ਅਘ ਨਾਸ਼ਨਿ ਕੋ ਦਰਸੰਨ ਦਿਖਾਇ, ਭਲੇ ਦੁਖ ਖੋਵਾ।

ਪਰ ਪੌਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੋ, ਗੁਰਤਾ ਕਹੁ ਭਾਰ ਸਹਾਰਿ ਖਰੋਵਾ।

ਗਨ ਮੇਲ ਮਸੰਦ ਬਿਲੰਦ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਿਮ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਰਾਇ, ਸਭੈ ਤਿਮ ਜੋਵਾ ॥੩॥

"Like the primal Guru Nanak Dev Ji,

The Divine Knowledge has encompassed Sri Guru Hari Krishan Ji.

Upon the sight of the Guru, the Congregation gets their sins erased.

But Guru Hargobind Ji's great grandson is overwhelmed by Guruship.

Even the most famous of Masands come to meet the Guru,

As Sri Hari Krishan Ji is as well known as Sri Guru Har Rai Ji."

ਕਬਿਤ: 

ਦੁਖ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਤਿ, ਸਿਖ ਬਾਂਛਤਿ ਕੇ ਦੇਤਿ ਗੁਰ, ਸੱਤ੍ਯਨਾਮ ਹੇਤੁ ਲਾਇ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਚਿਤਾਵਈਂ।

ਮਨ ਕੇ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਸ਼ ਕਰੈਂ ਏਕ ਬਾਰ ਗਨ ਧੀਰਜ ਧਰਮ, ਦਯਾ ਗੁਨ ਕੋ ਬਧਾਵਈਂ।

ਸਮਤਾ, ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸੋਂ ਸੰਤੋਖ ਸਿੰਘ ਰਿਦੇ ਬਾਸ ਸਿਜ਼ਖੀ ਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨੀਕੇ ਸੁਗਮ ਬਤਾਵਈ।

"The Guru erases the Sikhs' sorrows,

And the Sikhs share their desires with the Guru.

They express their love for Sātnām,

And deeply embrace the lord with their mind.

Contentment resides in the heart of Kavi Santokh Singh,

Who beautifully explains the beginning of the Sikh Dharma."
